Moving Day | Earlysville, Virginia
by Grant
Moving day. We spent the last three weeks packing, sorting, consolidating and selling off our stuff. We had a yard sale the weekend before and ended up donating whatever was left over to a family in need.
The movers showed up late and then underestimated how long things would take and how much space it would all require. This meant that we were left with a garage full of stuff to move ourselves the next day. It was a very long day that inconveniently began with very heavy rain, followed by a beautiful rainbow (rainbows are very welcome signs). We finished vacuuming and cleaning an empty house around 10pm and felt completely exhausted on every level.
This was our first full night in Thelma the Bus. Jack and Ellie had stayed in her the night before, but the full Gamble clan hit the bus in force on the night before we closed on the sale of our house. Two adults, two young adults and three large dogs all squeezed into the confines of a 40’ bus . . . what were we thinking?

Here is what our second month living on our boat, Hanavave, in Tahiti, French Polynesia, was like.
