We wake up early in the morning and go for a long walk around the campground, which is quite sprawling. The scene is almost magical with yet another warm day, cloudless deep blue sky and trees draped with vibrant fall colors. The leaves fall like snow, covering the ground with a carpet of vivid yellows, oranges and reds. The air is still, the sun is warm and we finally begin to feel a sense of peace. I express my love for Thelma and our first week of the “tiny house” traveling lifestyle.

Later in the morning, we all meet Ida and her puppies, Rocky and Nala, at Borderland State Park for a walk in the woods. Borderland encompasses 1,843 acres surrounding the Ames Mansion, which was built in 1910. If you have a shovel in your house, chances are the brand is “Ames.” Borderland is a beautiful park that has trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding, a pond with fishing and boating, and facilities for tennis and disc golf. I have fond memories of hiking, running and ice skating at Borderland from when I lived in the area as a teenager.

Later that evening, we go back to Ida and Wess’ house where Ida cooks a very nice dinner for everyone.
