It is another lovely Florida day. When I lived in Queensland, Australia, they had a caption, “Beautiful one day, perfect the next. ” That kinda sums up Florida at this time of year. Jana and I catch up with a friend who lives in Jupiter/Tequesta and we all grab coffee and breakfast outside.
We then head back and round up the rest of the crew. We have grocery shopping to do and Jack and Ellie want to grab a few things from the outlets. We continue to practice social distancing and wearing masks religiously. Not everyone we encounter is on the same page, but Jack and Ellie are really diligent.
After giving the hounds a wee break we hit Juno Beach for a final swim and hang out. The moon rising over the sea is magnificent and sets the scene for our pending exit to Key West.

We continue to practice social distancing and wearing masks religiously.

This is a beautiful area! There is however a huge contrast between the immense wealth and rampant poverty just across the street. There seems to be relative harmony in this dichotomy, but the gap seems unfathomable.
As we navigate the streets and the beach, it’s evident that happiness is not a function of wealth though. Some of the brightest smiles and greatest fun seems to be had by the kids and people that come from the mobile home parks and not those that pull up to the beach in their Range Rovers or Porsches. This is not a criticism, but an observation.
When I worked in the Philippines, I remember street kids absolutely cracking up and having the time of their life kicking a coconut around as a soccer ball. A great reminder for me that happiness is a state of mind, not a function of your bank balance.
