Higgs Beach, Key West, FL

A big storm dumped about 3” rain on us overnight. Thankfully, we’re now water tight (not the case when we procured Thelma). It’s also blustery and blowing over 20 miles per hour a lot of the time. Puts the kibosh on paddling. ?
Jana and I hit the grocery store (Publix), which has a decent amount of organic produce and options. Jana spent the rest of the day working on the GFA website and I kept plowing through logistics, paying bills, and popped across the road to Fishbusterz (a fresh seafood market) opposite Boyd’s Campground. Bloody awesome! Can’t believe we didn’t visit it sooner. They have some wonderful fresh seafood, fresh from the boat.
When the kids break from school, we took the puppies for a nice stretch and then headed to Higgs Beach. Jack skateboarded along the beautiful concrete jetty and we captured some photos of the sunset and our little jaunt. Higgs beach is also the site of an African slave cemetery and the Key West Aids memorial. A lot to take in and lots of amenities surrounding the beach.
We headed back to the RV and cooked up a lovely rice, tomato and fish dish. We cooked some fresh steamed shrimp (“prawns” in Aussie lingo) and feast on the bounty of the Key West fishing industry. All in all we had a lovely evening and look forward to tomorrow.

Sailing Tahiti to Australia | Month 2 FP
Here is what our second month living on our boat, Hanavave, in Tahiti, French Polynesia, was like.
Our trip to Australia was delayed due to port closures throughout the South Pacific. We spent the month making improvements to Hanavave so that we could make the passage to Australia with fewer stops.
