Christmas Day | Naples, FL
ODOMETER: 80,806 | MILES TRAVELED: 2,861
by Grant
It is Christmas Day and it has turned cold (50’s) and really windy. Jana and I take the dogs for their morning walk and need to rug up as we’ve acclimated pretty quickly to the warmer weather.
Jack and Ellie get up at a reasonable hour (gone are the days of pre-dawn rustlings) and Christmas unfolds beautifly. Jana’s done an incredible job of picking presents and wrapping everything. It is a lovely Christmas with thoughtful gifts, cards and gestures being exchanged by all.
One thing Jack and Ellie had wanted was a Nintendo Switch and we relented and bought them one. We helped them set it up and they have a ball playing Mario Kart. Jana jumps in too and it’s a lot of fun and laughs.
Overnight, the wind has damaged the main awning so
while Jana preps food I repair the awning so we can get on the road tomorrow.
In the afternoon, we decide to go for a walk back on the Cullum Trail and Jack brings the big camera and we spend about an hour walking the trail, taking photos and checking out the birdlife and Gopher Tortoises.
We head back and get dinner ready. Schnitzel, fried fish, potato salad, stuffing and mashed potatoes.
We settle back for a Mario Kart tournament and crawl into bed for an episode of “The Crown”.
We are looking forward to heading north up the Gulf Coast and exploring some more remote areas of Florida tomorrow so we pack it in for the night.
It is a lovely Christmas with thoughtful gifts, cards and gestures being exchanged by all.

Sailing Tahiti to Australia | Month 2 FP
Here is what our second month living on our boat, Hanavave, in Tahiti, French Polynesia, was like.
Our trip to Australia was delayed due to port closures throughout the South Pacific. We spent the month making improvements to Hanavave so that we could make the passage to Australia with fewer stops.
