Lake Livingston, Onalaska, TX

ODOMETER: 81,982 | MILES TRAVELED: 4,037

by Grant

Jack and Ellie have school today and because we’re on Central time, they need to start an hour earlier. Jana and I decide to go grocery shopping at Brookshire Brothers, the local grocery store, and then head out to Lake Livingston State Park.

Lake Livingston State Park is a lovely park situated on the shores of Lake Livingston. There has obviously been a lot of rain here lately and the trails are a little soggy and wet in spots. Jana and I do a loop of the park’s trails, Jana running and me riding, and we really enjoy this spot.

The plan was to bring Jack and Ellie back here but a general lack of desire and sunset approaching brought that idea down. It did give us the time to prepare and cook some awesome beef and veggie kebabs and enjoy them as the sun receded behind the western shore of the lake.

Jack and Ellie watched some anime and Jana and I watched a couple of episodes of “The Crown”. The show is starting to get into historical markers that we both

remember, so it’s interesting to look through the lens of the show at what we experienced from our perspectives going back in time.
