Today, we visited the beautiful Saguro National Park. It is named after the Saguaro cactus, which only grows in the Sonoran Desert. At up to 50 feet tall, the Saguaro is the largest cactus in the U.S. and can live to be over 200 years old. The Saguaros grow at a very slow rate, only about one inch per year.

The weather was unsuccessfully trying to make its mind up between gusty winds, heavy rains and some peeks of sunshine. This made for an interesting sky, awesome light and at one point, we were even blessed with a rainbow! All the different species of cacti and the mountain range in the background make this a very unique, beautiful place. We only had one full day in Tucson and we’re glad we got to visit this amazing park. Next time, we’d love to do a Saguaro hike!
