Happy Valentine’s Day!

We had a big 7-hour travel day to Guerrero Negro. The drive was very challenging with narrow roads and no shoulders. Passing a truck going in the opposite direction made us wince. At times we drove through mountains and grades we haven’t seen in our entire time on the road. It became abundantly clear to us that the Baja is not really built for a 40-foot Thelma towing a Louise. This explains why you will mostly see vans traveling down the Baja and larger rigs are only occasional. I was in awe of Grant’s driving skills and focus for such a long, stressful trip.

We got to Guerrero Negro in one piece and found our chosen RV park, Malarrimo. I went in to check in but was met by a seeminly grumpy gentleman who just seemed like he wasn’t in the mood for people.

We found a spot, hooked up and decided to have dinner on the pation of the park’s restaurant to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Our server also started out a little gruff, but eventually warmed up to our friendliness and my bad Spanish.

This is the first time we encountered anything but a very warm, welcoming attitude and later learned by some long-time Baha RV’ers that Malarrimo is the second choice in Guerrero Negro for this reason.

We had a wonderful time together over dinner and went to bed early after an exhausting drive, with another one coming tomorrow.

It became abundantly clear to us that the Baja is not really built for a 40-foot Thelma towing a Louise.

Sailing Tahiti to Australia | Month 2 FP

Here is what our second month living on our boat, Hanavave, in Tahiti, French Polynesia, was like.

Our trip to Australia was delayed due to port closures throughout the South Pacific. We spent the month making improvements to Hanavave so that we could make the passage to Australia with fewer stops.

Why We Sold Our Home to Live on a Bus and Travel Full-TimeAt any other point in time, the decision to sell our home and move into an RV to travel the U.S. full-time with two teenagers and three dogs might be quite ridiculous. But in these unfathomably complex and...
